Aiding Our Community
Although our military service is done, we continue to serve the
community in many ways to build a strong foundation for America's
future. Besides our public ceremonies and celebrations, such
as Flag Day and parades, where we invite local citizens to
attend, the VFW also stands ready to serve as mentors and benefactors.
The VFW's citizenship education program is designed to
stimulate an interest in America's history, its traditions and
institutions, as well as promote patriotism. The VFW also partners with
the National Rifle Association, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, International
Association of Firefighters and the Salvation Army. Our Youth
Scholarship program gives more than $3.5 million in scholarships to
America's youth. We also sponsor more than 1,200 boy scout troops. The
V
FW's 160 acre National Home for Children in Michigan is a home for
orphaned or single parent children of VFW or Ladies Auxiliary members.
So if you have
more of yourself to give, we have a place for you at the table.
If you are interested in passing on your knowledge and experience to
our community, we have work for you. Welcome.
